In case you haven't noticed, we've sure had hybrids on the brain as of late here at BMW Portland. The last time we touched base, we were counting down the days until the BMW i8 takes the stage at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Well as it just so happens, that's not the only EV that our favorite automaker will be unveiling in a couple weeks. And now that details have started to trickle in on the BMW Concept X5 eDrive, the excitement couldn't be greater.

From what we've heard, the X5 eDrive ought to be an eco-friendly force to be reckoned with. As for what's under the hood, we're looking at a 95-horsepower electric motor that's coupled to a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. On electric power alone, this CUV can reportedly reach up to speeds of 75 mph and go for 19 miles on a full charge. Not only that, but in terms of fuel-economy, drivers can expect a whopping 62 mpg in the US.

Speaking of drivers, they'll also have three PHEV modes to choose from. One is operated automatically, another is purely electric and then there's the Save Battery mode that works to preserve the vehicle's charge when you're on the road.

As for its exterior, it boasts redesigned front- and rear fascias, aero-tuned 21-inch alloy wheels and subtle blue accents to boot. Take it from us, it's a sight to see.

Unfortunately, it's still in the concept stage and there's still no confirmation as to whether or not it will make its way to the production line. So until we hear more from Frankfurt, feel free to get a base of comparison with the 2013 BMW X5 at our dealership here in Portland, OR. It helps with the wait.
