For those in the know, the original 1999 BMW M Coupe was a chic and quirky must-have item that made up for its polarizing looks with a fun-to-drive powertrain everyone could appreciate.
Its unique, clown-shoe-like shape lends itself to a lighter curb weight but with a characteristically powerful M-Series engine and an uncharacteristic amount of generous cargo space. This two-seater is a rare bird, and its exotic appearance is part of the reason why it fell into extinction. Sure, it's an acquired taste, but we must admit that we here at BMW of Portland think this last-of-the-century model is a true find.
