As you've probably gathered from all these stories of reckless drivers that we've been sharing with you as of late, safety is quite the priority for us here at BMW Portland. After all, there's good reason why our favorite automaker keeps pushing the envelope and raising their safety standards from one year to the next.

And for those in search of the height of vehicular safety, something that the Secret Service would likely add to their fleet without thinking twice, BMW has you covered.

Not only did they pull back the curtain on the eco-friendly BMW Concept X5 eDrive at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, but the brass at our favorite automaker also brought something a little tougher to the stage. They called it the BMW Concept X5 Security Plus and it sure did live up to its name.

Based on the BMW X5 models you can find at our dealership, this concept is outfitted with high-strength steel moldings, sealed joints, polycarbonate-coated security glass and steel body panels. With all that working together, it can easily withstand gunfire from the likes of an AK-47 if, god forbid, you're ever in that situation.

As for what's under the hood, you're looking at a twin-turbocharged V8 engine that delivers up to 450 horsepower for quick getaways. As for if and when it will be making its way to the production line, your guess is as good as ours.

So until we learn more, feel free to gain a base of comparison in the 2013 BMW X5 models at our dealership here in Portland, OR. Just don't go getting yourself into any trouble now, you hear?
