A few months back, we told you folks about the story of one terribly reckless driver and his 2013 BMW M3. Not surprisingly, things didn't work out too well for the guy, although it did serve as a great PSA for safe driving, something that's very dear to us here at BMW Portland. Unfortunately, some people out there just don't learn, which brings us to the story of one Christopher Adam Tang.

Going under the YouTube handle of "AfroDuck," Mr. Tang recently made headlines on the East Coast for an unofficial and highly illegal record he set behind the wheel of his BMW Z4. With a video camera on the dashboard to catch it in real time, Mr. Tang managed to drive the entire loop around the isle of Manhattan in all of 24 minutes, beating the previous record by two minutes.

For those who've never attempted it (because why would you?), the "course" in question is 26 miles long. Mr. Tang stopped at six red lights, was not stopped by a police officer and then uploaded the footage to the internet for all to see. Just to give you an idea of how fast he was going, it takes 41 minutes to drive the loop while obeying the speed limit.

Eventually, the NYPD caught wind of his boasting and was none too happy about it. Though we still don't know how they tracked him down, Mr. Tang was soon apprehended and his vehicle was impounded for good measure.

We said it once and we'll say it again, folks: driving safe is the only way to drive. With that said, leave the lead foot at home and feel free to visit us for a test drive at our dealership here in Portland, OR. After all, you don't want to end up like AfroDuck.
