Now that we've established that incomparable safety standards will soon be making their way to our dealership here at BMW Portland, it's time we shifted our focus to fuel efficiency. Because if there's two things our drivers love, it's being safe behind the wheel and paying less at the pump.
In case you haven't heard, the BMW 328d will soon be making its way to our dealership. While the addition of any new car to our lineup is always a cause for celebration, the arrival of a Green Car of the Year finalist is certainly a special occasion.
If you're wondering why it earned its way onto the Green Car Journal's shortlist this year, we're guessing it has something to do with its 2.0-liter TwinPower clean diesel engine that will deliver up to 180 horsepower, 280 lb.-ft. of torque and, most importantly, a EPA-estimated fuel economy of 45 mpg on the highway. Not only is it the first of its kind from our favorite automaker, but it's a shoo-in for the win if you asked us.
"Featuring the first 4-cylinder BMW diesel engine in the US, the new 328d combines exceptionally high fuel efficiency with the performance expected of BMW model," say the editors at Green Car Journal. "Efficiency is enhanced with engine auto start-stop and brake energy regeneration."1
So until we hear back on how this green machine fares, feel free to learn more about it from the experts in our car parts department at our dealership here in Portland, OR. Take it from us: it's the total package.
