We love writing about our brands vehicles here on our blog, but the motivating factors for us doing that here at BMW Portland are different from those of a high school student in New York.
When we write about BMW vehicles our goal is to inform everyone in the Portland, Oregon region of how awesome our cars are, but for student Carter Kelly Kramer, writing about his BMW meant college admissions.
The typical college admission essay is not usually focused on a classic 1976 BMW 2002, although it wouldn’t be a stretch for us if we were applying to school today, because we eat, sleep and breath BMW.
Carter Kelly Kramer's essay was focused on his classic 2002, and the journey the car brought him on. Carter purchased the vehicle off of eBay, and when it arrived it was in less than stellar condition. However, the car fit his personality better than all the typical rides his fellow students chose.
After a minor accident in the 2002, Carter took it upon himself to remake the BMW in honor of the past history of the model, as a racer. After countless nights or hard work and numerous improvements the 2002 emerged with a brand new look.
With the style of the era it was first built in, the 2002 looked and felt like a racer from the 1970's, and it became Carter's baby. The performance parts and accessories he installed were complimented by a matte orange paint job complete with racing numbers, and believe it or not the essay got him into college.
While it may not be the easiest way to get admitted to college, Carter's story is admirable and shows how determined he was to remake the classic car. If you would like to drive home in a new or used BMW that can become your baby, then stop by our Portland, Oregon showroom today.
