It's a common sort of question we ask here at BMW Portland: will this or that model get an M version? If you wanted our opinion, every single new BMW model deserves to get an option like this. The unfortunate truth though is that, if every model had an M option then it wouldn't be as special or exciting when it did happen.

And according to recent news, it seems this also holds true for the March 2014-bound BMW X4 compact crossover. But there are other options to be had and we're certainly crossing our fingers for an alternative: the M Performance line might be what's in store.

If stock models are on one end of the spectrum and M models are on the other, then the M Performance would be somewhere in between. We've seen a lot of cars get this treatment, such as the M135i hatchback and M235i coupe, and it looks like the X4 might be next on the list.

What's more, we might even see it in diesel form. Unfortunately, for the time being, we'll just have to keep our ears to the ground and wait for more details to come. We'll update you here on the blog, so be sure to keep checking back.

If you've got another model in mind, then we have a plethora to choose from here at our Portland, OR dealership. The automotive gurus here can answer all your questions and show you anything that catches your eye up close and personal.
